On a trouvé notre maison de rêve ! We found our dream home !
L'automne dernier nous avons décidé que nous retournerions nous installer au Québec à la retraite pour demeurer avec maman tant qu'elle sera en vie. Mais sans négliger pour autant notre passion: la voile. Il fallait donc trouver un endroit qui soit proche de l'eau, et de notre bateau. C'est donc au Saguenay que nous avons décidé que ce serait. Le Saguenay menant au Saint-Laurent qui nous mène au Golfe du Saint-Laurent et à l'océan Atlantique, toutes les portes sont toujours ouvertes pour de futures navigations plus lointaines. Last fall we have decided that we would go back to Québec to settle down at retirement for we want to stay with mom as long as she's alive.  But without neglecting our passion: sailing. Therefore we had to find a place that would be close to the water and close to our boat.  Thus we decided that it would be in the Saguenay region. The Saguenay River leading to the St-Lawrence River which leads to the St-Lawrence Gulf and the Atlantic Ocean, all the doors are still open for future far away sailing.
Étant donné que nous prévoyons qu'après rénovations, le port d'attache de Desert Cat sera l'Anse à Benjamin, nous regardions autour s'il y avait des maisons ou terrains à vendre.  Mais comme vous pouvez le constater sur cette photo de Google Earth, c'est pas mal agricole tout autour. Les maisons à vendre sont rares et les terrains encore plus car c'est zoné agricole partout. After Desert Cat's restoration, we plan to keep the boat at L'Anse à Benjamin, therefore we were looking around for houses or lands for sale.  But as you can see on this Google Earth picture, it's mostly agricultural all around. The houses for sale are very rare and most of the land is in the agricultural zone, thus forbidden to build on.
On "zoomait" sur les maisons les plus proches, celle-ci en particulier, et on se disait:  Yé tu chanceux celui qui reste là ! We were zooming on the closest houses, this one in particular, and we were saying: Isn't that guy lucky to own that house !
Un peu plus loin dans le chemin St-Joseph, il y avait cette ancestrale de 1873 à vendre... Further away on St.Joseph Rd, there was this age-old of 1873 for sale...
Début juin, alors que Marc est toujours en Arabie, je pars avec maman pour un court séjour dans la région pour visiter une tante à Dolbeau. Puis nous nous arrêtons pour une journée à Chicoutimi. Nous sommes chez ma belle-soeur et je lui parle de nos recherches. Elle me convint d'aller visiter la maison ancestrale. J'appelle l'agent d'immeuble et nous prenons rendez-vous pour le lendemain.   La maison est intéressante car le prix avait baissé, mais en jasant sur Skype avec Marc le soir, on conclut d'attendre. Dans l'après-midi nous avions fait tous les rangs autour pour voir s'il y avait d'autres pancartes à vendre, mais sans succès. Mon programme est de repartir pour Granby le lendemain matin à la première heure.  À 6h00 du matin, je lis mes e-mails.  Marc m'envoie une annonce de l'internet et me dit d'aller voir cette maison avant de prendre la route de Granby.  Je regarde la photo et me dit qu'elle est bien ordinaire.  Je note l'adresse et je vais voir sur Google Map où elle est située.  Tout à coup le coeur me manque ! C'est exactement LA maison qu'on regardait souvent sur Google Earth, juste dans l'Anse à Philippe, tout près de l'Anse à Benjamin.  Je n'en reviens pas ! J'appelle l'agent d'immeuble à 7h30...à 11h00 nous visitons la maison...à midi je signe une promesse d'achat.  Puis c'est à 15h00 qu'on prend la route du retour. L'agent avait mis la pancarte tout juste après qu'on soit passées par là la veille. On dit qu'il n'y a pas de hasard... ;o) Beginning of June, while Marc is still in Saudi Arabia, I hit the road with mom for a short stay in that region to visit an aunt in Dolbeau. Then, we stop in Chicoutimi for one day. We are at my sister in law's and I chat with her about our search for a house. She convinces me to go and have a look at the old-age house. I call the real-estate agent and take an appointment for the morning after. The house is quite interesting because the price has gone down, but after talking with Marc on Skype in the evening, we decide to wait and see.  In the afternoon we had driven on all the roads close by to look for any "for sale" signs, but to no avail. My plan was to leave early in the morning to go back home.  At 6:00 in the morning, I'm reading my e-mails. There is one from Marc, asking me to go have a look at a house he just found on the internet. I look at the picture and think for myself : this house is very ordinary.  I check on Google Map where it is located and I have a shock !  It's THE house we were looking at so often on Google Earth !!! I just can't believe it ! I call the real-estate agent at 7:30...at 11:00 we visit the house...at noon I sign the "promise to buy" papers. And it's only at 3:00 in the afternoon that we finally hit the road.  The real estate agent had put the "for sale" sign by the house just a few hours after we drove by the day before.  Very lucky that Marc saw it on the internet... ;o)
Voila !  Nous n'avons pas énormément de terrain, mais comme c'est agricole tout autour, nous ne voyons pas de voisins. Notre seul voisin c'est le cultivateur proprio des terres autour, c'est le beau-frère de la dame qui nous a vendu. Nous pouvons en tout temps sauter la clôture et profiter de la plage déserte de l'Anse à Philippe. Nous sommes à 1,5 km de l'Anse à Benjamin, et à 1 km de la Fromagerie Boivin qui fait le meilleur fromage en grain au Québec ! ;o) Voilà ! We don't have a huge land but because it's agrucultural all around we have no close neighbour. Our only neighbour is the farmer who owns the land all around, and it's the brother in law of the lady who sold us the house. We can jump our fence anytime and enjoy the deserted beach of the Anse à Philippe. We are at 1.5 km from the Anse à Benjamin and 1 km from the Boivin Cheese Factory, who makes the best curd cheese in Québec ! :o)
À première vue c'est un petit bungalow très ordinaire. At first sight it's a very ordinary little bungalow.
Avec un terrain d'un peu plus de 18,000 pi. car. On a land of a little more than 18,000 square ft.
Assez bien paysagé. Quite well landscaped.
Avec vue sur la nature environnante. With a view on the natural environment.
Notre futur potager. Our futur vegetable garden.	Notre entrée. Our driveway.
Et surtout... And above all...

Sautons la clôture et suivons Marc pour une petite promenade au bord de l'eau. Let's jump the fence and follow Marc for a nice stroll to the shore.
Dès septembre nous pourrons voir les bateaux de croisière arriver au quai de La Baie. From September we will be able to see the cruiseships arriving at the dock in La Baie.	Une belle plage de galets pour nous tout seuls. A beautiful pebble beach for ourselves.
Et ce jour-là, comme un clin-d'oeil de bienvenue, la goélette Marie-Clarisse, joyau de notre patrimoine maritime devenu navire-école, naviguait sur la baie. And on that day, like a welcoming blink of an eye, the schooner Marie-Clarisse, jewel of our maritime heritage that became a training ship, was sailing in the bay.
Voyez qui vient avec la maison :  Eh oui, nous allons hériter de Caramel, une belle petite chatte aux yeux bleus. Look at what's included with the house : Yep !  Caramel is a young female cat with beautiful blue eyes.
Marc a plein de projets en tête... Marc has a lot of projects in mind...	Et il a demandé l'aide d'Agat pour les dessiner. And he asked for the help of Agat to draw them.
Mais comme il a un certain talent lui-même, il a fait des croquis pour lui donner une idée du projet global. And because he has some skills himself, he drew a few sketches to give her an idea of the whole project.
Un phare pour ajouter un peu d'originalité à la maison. A lighthouse to add some caracter to the house.	Et un grand garage et atelier d'ébénisterie. And a big garage and woodworking shop.
Voilà ce à quoi ça devrait ressembler. La maison de Granby est maintenant à vendre. Et on a très hâte à l'été prochain !! This is what it should look like. The house in Granby is now for sale. And we just can't wait for next summer !!
