À environ 2 heures de route de Dhahran, Hofuf est une assez grosse ville située dans une oasis naturelle. Elle est réputée pour son souk qui a conservé tout le typique d'autrefois. À la périphérie de la ville, il y a des "cavernes"...enfin... pas très profondes, mais plutôt un genre de labyrinthe de roches de grès de formes spectaculaires. At about a 2 hours drive from Dhahran, Hofuf is quite a big city located in a natural oasis. It's suk is spectacular because it kept the charm of the old days. In the outskirts of the city are some "caves"... well... not really deep but rather a kind of labyrinth of sandstone rocks with peculiar shapes.

Marc a trouvé une bride de chameau très colorée. A stop in a a small suk.   Marc found a colourful camel bridle.

À l'extérieur de la ville, un petit souk s'est installé tout près des soi-disant cavernes. Outside the city, a small suk took place near the so-called caves.
Les rochers sont assez impressionnants. The rocks are quite impressive.

	On a trouvé un coin d'ombre pour luncher. We found a shaded spot for lunch.
	Puis un endroit où camper pour la nuit. And then a camping spot for the night.
Le matin suivant, nous sommes allés au marché de chameaux. On pouvait voir et entendre les marchandages entre propriétaires et acheteurs potentiels. The morning after, we went to the camel market. We could see and hear the bargaining talks between the owners and the potential buyers.
Au vieux souk on ne pouvait pas prendre de photos car il y a trop de femmes et elles ne tolèrent pas cela.  La caméra doit rester bien cachée. Une fois, le fils d'un ami, n'ayant même pas pris de photo mais ayant sa caméra en bandoulière se l'est fait arrachée par une femme enragée, elle a même sorti le film de dedans.  Le jeune a perdu toues les photos qu'il avait prises auparavant.  Un vrai choc des cultures. Vers la fin de l'avant midi il y avait moins de monde et ici, le propriétaire nous a donné la permission de photographier. At the old suk we couldn't take any picture for there are too many women and they don't tolerate it. The camera has to be kept hidden. The son of a friend once was walking there with his camera on his shoulder, he had not made any attempt to take a picture. All of a sudden, a women grabbed his camera, opened it and took out the film roll.  He lost all his pictures.  A real culture shock ! Around noon, there was less people around and here the owner of the shop gave us permission to take some photos.
Une ruelle déserte. A deserted alleyway.	Autour de Hofuf il y a plusieurs datteraies car la nappe phréatique donne naissance à plusieurs oasis. Around Hofuf there are several date palm groves for the ground water is giving life to many oasis
Il a l'air de dire:  allez, embarques c'est le temps de repartir. He seems to be saying:  Come on, get in the car, it's time to head back home.
