Quel endroit charmant, sur la grève de Baie-Johan-Beetz, ces chaises Adirondaks invitantes ! What a lovely place on the Baie-Johan-Beetz beachfront, these inviting Adirondak chairs!
Il n'en fallait pas plus pour que toute la famille s'y installe ! The whole family had to give it a try !	Immeuble patrimonial, la maison de Johan Beetz, celui qui donna son nom au village, est l'une des seules maisons de cet envergure sur toute la Côte Nord. Il faut dire que le personnage a dominé l'histoire du village. Heritage building, the house of Johan Beetz, the one who gave his name to the village, is one of the only houses of this size on the entire North Shore. It must be said that the character has dominated the history of the village.
C'est l'heure du lunch juste avant d'arriver à Havre-Saint-Pierre. On accompagne notre repas d'une bonne Walker, une brown ale de la microbrasserie locale St-Pancrace It's lunch time just before arriving in Havre-Saint-Pierre. We accompany our meal with a Walker, a brown ale of the local microbrewery St-Pancrace

Alors que j'observe un Goéland marin qui se laisse flotter tout bonnement sur l'eau... As I'm watching a Great Black-backed Gull on the water...	Tout à coup, il prend son envol. All of a sudden, it takes flight.
Et plonge tête première dans l'eau. And dive head first into the water.	Il en ressort avec une proie dans le bec. It comes out with a prey in the beak.
Toute une proie ! Une belle grosse plie ! What a prey !  A nice big plaice !	"N'essaye pas de repartir avec la vague toi !" "Eh you! Don't try to leave with the wave !"
Un regard autour, histoire de ne pas me la faire chiper. A look around, to make sure there is no thief nearby.	Allez, viens ici toi que je te goûte! Eh you! Come over here, I wanna taste you !
Un peu coriace à déchirer, mais ô combien délicieux ! A little tough to tear, but oh so delicious !
L'église Saint-Georges de Mingan, dont le décor intérieur est entièrement autochtone. The Church of St. George of Mingan which interior decoration is entirely indigenous.	Griboo a trouvé un tipi à son échelle. Griboo found a tipi on his scale.
L'église a été construite en 1918-1919 par le légendaire John Maloney, le Jack Monoloy de la chanson de Gilles Vigneault "Les bouleaux de la rivière Mingan".  En 1971-1972 la réfection de l'église avec style indien a été faite bénévolement avec l'aide de toute la communauté chrétienne de Mingan. The church was built in 1918-1919 by the legendary John Maloney, Jack Monoloy of Gilles Vigneault's song "Les bouleaux de la rivière Mingan". In 1971-1972 the restoration of the church with Indian style was done voluntarily with the help of the entire Christian community of Mingan.
Nous avons passé une bonne demi-journée à la Maison de la Culture Innue à Ekuanitshit, la partie Innue du village de Mingan. Leur exposition et les différents vidéos nous montrant comment ils vivent sont des plus intéressants.  De plus, nous pouvions nous régaler de bannik et de confiture de chicoutai en buvant du thé du Labrador.  Ce fut pour nous un des points forts de notre voyage même si nous n'avons pris aucune photo. We spent at least half a day at the Innu Culture House in Ekuanitshit, the Innu part of Mingan Village. Their exhibition and the different videos showing how they live are most interesting. In addition, we could enjoy bannik and cloudberry jam while drinking Labrador tea. This was for us one of the highlights of our trip even though we did not take any photos.
À quelques km dans l'arrière pays de Longue-Pointe-de-Mingan, nous découvrons le Lac Patterson. Un quai, une plage... deux hydravions ancrés... et personne !  A few km in the hinterland of Longue-Pointe-de-Mingan, we discover Lake Patterson. A dock, a beach ... two anchored seaplanes ... and no one!	L'endroit parfait pour le "boondocking". Et pour que Marc puisse enfin étrenner le petit dinghy qu'il a construit dans son garage. The perfect place for boondocking. And Marc can finally try the brand new little dinghy he built in his garage.
On appele ça un "pram", une petite embarcation dont le devant n'est pas pointu. Ça se manoeuvre à rames ou à voile. It' called a "pram", a small boat which the bow is not pointed. It is navigated by oars or sail.	La mise à l'eau ! The launch !
	Nous avons navigué pendant quelques minutes avant de s'apercevoir qu'il prenait l'eau à quelques endroits où les trous du "stitch & glue" n'avaient pas été bouchés correctement.... We sailed for a few minutes before realizing that the boat was taking water in some places where the holes of the "stitch & glue" had not been plastered properly ....
ILES MINGAN, NOUS VOICI !! MINGAN ISLANDS, HERE WE ARE !!
Très tôt le lendemain matin, nous voici chez la famille Vibert, qui va nous emmener en excursion aux fameuses iles Mingan. C'est pas mal frisquet sur l'eau à ce temps-ci de l'année, alors ils nous prêtent de gros anoraks doublés pour la traversée. L'épouse de M. Vibert est la fille du dernier gardien de phare de l'Ile aux Perroquets. Avant le départ, elle nous a raconté plein d'anecdotes de son enfance sur l'ile. C'était super intéressant. Very early the next morning, here we are at the Vibert family, who will take us on an excursion to the famous Mingan Islands. It's pretty chilly on the water at this time of the year, so they lend us big warm coats for the crossing. The wife of Mr. Vibert is the daughter of the last lighthouse keeper of the  "Ile aux Perroquets". Before departure, she told us many stories of her childhood on the island. It was very interesting.
Plusieurs phoques curieux nagent dans le sillage de notre bateau autour des îles. Several curious seals swim in our boat's wake around the islands.
C'était en fin de saison, il ne restait plus beaucoup de Macareux moines autour de l'Ile aux Perroquets, où ils nichent.  Mais nous avons eu le privilège d'en observer quelques uns. It was late in the season, there were not many Atlantic Puffins left around the "Ile aux Perroquets", where they nest. But we've had the privilege of seeing a few of them.
Nous approchons de l'Ile aux Perroquets. En avant plan en vol, l'un des rares Macareux moines encore là. We are approaching "Ile aux Perroquets"(Parrots Island). In the foreground, in flight, one of the few Atlantic Puffins still there.
En approchant de l'ile, nous passons tout près d'une crèche d'Eiders à duvet. Approaching the island, we pass close to a creche of Common Eiders.	Ces blocs rocheux semblent en train de tomber comme des dominos. On peut voir où ils sont situés sur la photo du haut, en bas à droite. These boulders seem to be falling like dominoes. You can see where they are located on the top photo, bottom right.
M. Vibert nous montre comment se pratique la pêche aux oursins. Dans les eaux peu profondes, où on voit les oursins sur le fond, il suffit d'y descendre une moppe et hop on attrape plusieurs oursins d'un coup ! Mr. Vibert shows us how to fish sea urchins. In the shallow waters, where you can see the sea urchins on the bottom, just drop down a mop and hop you catch several sea urchins at once!
Nous débarquons sur l'ile où une naturaliste de Parcs Canada nous fait faire la visite. Nous débutons par le phare. We land and tour the island with a Parks Canada naturalist. We start with the lighthouse.	Un Bécasseau minuscule juvénile se promène sur la grève. A juvenile Least Sandpiper walks on the beach.
La falaise où nichent les Macareux moines. The cliff where Atlantic Puffins nest.	La naturaliste nous montre les oeufs des différents oiseaux qui nichent sur l'ile. Je ne pourrais pas tous vous les nommer mais je peux reconnaître le petit bleu dans le coin droit, celui du Merle d'Amérique. The naturalist shows us the eggs of the different birds that nest on the island. I couldn't name them all but I can recognize the little blue one in the right corner, that of the American Robin.
Un Goéland argenté vient de débusquer son lunch. A Herring Gull has just flushed out his lunch.	Un Bécasseau semipalmé est à la recherche du sien. A Semipalmated Sandpiper is in search of his own.
Nous reprenons la mer pour nous rendre sur une autre ile de l'archipel. We head back to sea to go to another island in the archipelago.
Avec un peu d'imagination, nous découvrons diverses créatures à travers ces formations rocheuses exceptionnelles. À gauche:  un éléphant. À droite: une tortue.   With a little imagination, we discover various creatures through these exceptional rock formations. On the left: an elephant. On the right: a turtle.
