Le rhinocéros unicorne est la plus grande des trois espèces asiatiques  (4 ou 5 autres espèces sont aujourd'ui éteintes), et appartient à un genre distinct du rhinocéros d'Afrique. Il ne vit, à l'heure actuelle qu'au Népal, au Sikkim et dans la région de l' Assam, en Inde.  Atteignant près de 2 mètres au garrot et pouvant peser jusqu'à 2 tonnes,  c'est un survivant des âges préhistoriques. The unicorn rhinoceros is the biggest of the three asian species (4 or 5 other species are extinct), and he belongs to a distinctive genus from the African one.  He is living only in Nepal, in Sikkim and in Assam region, India. Up to 2 meters high and weighing up to 2 tons, he's a survivor from prehistoric times.

Sa faible vue est largement compensée par un odorat et une ouie d'une grande finesse.  Bien qu'il ait la masse d'un poids-lourd, il a l'agilité et la vitesse d'une voiture de compétition.   Sa corne unique est une masse de kératine agglutinée, la protéine que l'on trouve dans les cheveux. L'animal s'en sert pour déterrer les bulbes et les racines dont il est friand. His feeble sight is largely compensated by a sense of smell and hearing of a great finesse.  Even though he has the mass of a lorry, he has the agility and speed of a racing car.  His unicorn is an agglutinated keratine lump, the protein found in hair.  The animal uses it to dig the bulbs and roots he is fond of.
